FOUR PAWS is the global animal welfare organisation for animals under direct human influence, which reveals suffering, rescues animals in need and protects them. The rescue centre for bears is located right in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District in the North of Germany. Your contribution will be

  • Making decisions regarding animal husbandry, veterinary care, including quarantine procedures, as well as scheduling veterinary checks, overseeing the preventative medicine program and changes in animal diets 
  • Controlling and developing the emergency plans in collaboration with the Sanctuary Manager and other internal departments 
  • Ensuring that the sanctuary meets all state and FOUR PAWS regulatory requirements related to animal management 
  • Developing and implementing enhancements for current enclosures, as well as making improvement recommendations as needed 
  • Planning of buildings, systems, and facilities, considering flexibility of use and cost-effectiveness and coordination of ongoing construction measures as well as planning modernization measures and ensuring optimal management of existing facilities

 

Your profile ideally illustrates

  • Successful completion of a degree in biology (majoring in zoology), environmental education, animal management or a degree in comparable subjects 
  • Several years of experience in environmental education, animal management or in the development and implementation of educational concepts  
  • Proven leadership experience 
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written German and English 
  • Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS vision and mission
